Keep track of information about site visitors with Google Analytics – see details such as the number of visitors to a page, their origin, their length of stay, and the search terms they used to locate your website.
To obtain the Measurement ID (Tracking ID) for your Google Analytics property and connect Google Analytics to your website, follow the instructions in this article.

Creating a New Google Analytics Account and Property
If you already have a Google Analytics account AND property, click here to skip ahead.
- Go to Google Analytics. Log into your Google account. If you do not already have a Google account, create one.
- Click on the Admin icon in the bottom left-hand corner.
- Click +Create Account.
- Create a Name for the Account. Adjust the timezone and currency, as needed. Then scroll down to click Next.
- Create a Name for your website Property. Then scroll down to click Next.
- Fill out the information about your business, and then click Create. (You will need to agree to the Google Analytics terms of service).
- You should be automatically taken to the Data Streams screen.
- Create a Web data stream.
- Enter your full website URL/domain. If you change your website domain/URL in the future, you will need to remember to update this as well.
- Create a Stream Name.
- Click on Create Stream.
- You should now be presented with the Stream details. Copy the Measurement ID. (G-XXXXXXXXXX).
Skip ahead to adding the ID to your Zenfolio website.
Obtaining Tracking ID From Existing Property
If you've already created a Google Analytics property, you will not need to go through the process of creating another one for the same website. However, you will still need to make sure that you create a Data Stream for your website. *If you've already created the property AND the Data Stream for your website, the Measurement ID will be available on the main Home page of that Google Analytics property.
- Log into your Google Analytics account and select the property from the top of the main page.
- If you need to create a Data Stream for your website, with this property, click on the Admin icon.
- Click on the Data Streams option.
- Select the Web option.
- Enter in your full website URL/domain, and create the Stream Name. If you change your website domain/URL in the future, you will need to remember to update this as well.
- Click on Create Stream.
- You should now be presented with the Stream details. Copy the Measurement ID. (G-XXXXXXXXXX).
Adding Tracking ID to Zenfolio Website
- Go to your Zenfolio account and click on the Website icon on the left-hand side.
- In the Website editor, go to the Site Settings.
- From here, use the Google Tracking ID box to paste your Google Analytics Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX).
- Be sure to Publish once you're ready to take your website live.
Google Analytics will then begin tracking your website's visitors and provide you with visitor information over time.
Viewing Reports of Website Visitors
To view the reports of your website visitors, you will need to return to your Google Analytics account.
- From your Google Analytics account, click on Reports.
- Use the Reports snapshot to view various numbers, graphs, and other metrics of your site visitors.
- You can also use the Realtime overview to view information of visitors to your website in the last 30 minutes.
