Exclusive to PortfolioPlus and ProSuite subscribers.
The ability to create and distribute coupons for potential clients in an effort to promote sales is one of the most popular marketing features that Zenfolio has to offer. Coupons may be amount-based (in which case, the amount is subtracted from the order product total) or they may be percentage-based (where the percentage amount is subtracted from the order product total).
You may also specify a coupon expiration policy that’s based on either a certain number of uses, or a certain date.
When provided with a valid active coupon, clients are able to redeem coupons during the checkout process on your website when placing an order.
It is important to keep in mind that if your coupon discounts the total order amount to less than base lab prices, resulting in a negative profit, your customer will not be able to complete their checkout.
Please ensure that you take into consideration all costs and fees related to selling a particular product to ensure that clients will be able to place their orders when using coupons.
For more information about the costs and fees related to selling, see this support article HERE.
One Coupon per Order
Only one coupon at a time can be applied to a single order. To apply two coupons, create a new coupon that combines the discounts of the two coupons, and then have the client apply that new coupon to the order.
Please note that is is currently not possible to create a coupon for 100% off of an order. Orders placed through your website must amount to at least $0.01 in profit. Orders placed using a 100% off coupon may result in an error viewing the order later.
Creating a New Coupon
- In your Zenfolio account, click on the Selling icon.
- In the Selling section of the account, go to the Coupons tab.
- Click on the Create Coupon button.
- Select whether you want to create a General Coupon or a coupon for just Free Shipping.
Discount Type
You will automatically be taken to the Discount Type section. This is where you'll set up how much of a discount will be applied with the coupon, and for what products.
At this time it will not be possible to create a coupon that discounts an order by 100%, the final order total must amount to at least $0.01 in profit. Creating a coupon for 100% off of an order may result in an error viewing the order later.
- Discount Type - Select whether you want to use a percentage-based or or amount-based discount.
- Discount - Enter in what percentage or amount you want to use. (50%, $50, $20, etc.)
- Minimum Order Amount - If you want to restrict the use of the coupon until someone is purchasing a certain amount already, you can set the Minimum Order Amount. For example, if you set this to $50.00, the coupon will not be valid until the client is purchasing at least $50 worth of applicable products.
- Description - Use this to provide some detail about what this coupon will apply to and how much of a discount will be provided. (i.e. Get 20% off when you purchase $50 or more.)
- Coupon Code - Create the actual code that the client will enter in during checkout. It is best to keep this simple yet unique to the type of discount. For example, Holiday related coupons might look something like this: LUCKY20, SPRING30, SPOOKY40, MERRY50.
- Number of times each user can use this code - Determine whether you want this to be a single use coupon, or if you'd like each client to be able to use this coupon more than once. Note: Coupon use is per client, if you set this number to 1, then each individual client that has been provided the coupon can only use it once.
- Limit to specific products - If you want to make sure that the coupon only applies to specific products, you can chose to do so. Check the "Limit to specific products" box and click on the "Select Products" button. You can then choose which specific product(s) you want this coupon to apply to. Note: You can select specific products, but you cannot select how many of a specific product. For example, it will not be possible to create a coupon that discounts 50% of the cost for only one 8x10 print. A 50% coupon that applies to 8x10 prints will discount all prints of that size in the order.
Click Apply once you've completed setting up the Discount Type.
Note: Once the Coupon becomes active, these settings cannot be changed. See here for more information on how to edit an already active coupon.
