Hero Blocks can be added at the very top of your website pages, just underneath your website's Header Block. In addition to the Hero Blocks only being able to be added at the top of the page, it is only possible to add one Hero Block to a page. The Hero Block also provides SEO benefits because it will contain the <h1> tag that helps improve the SEO of a page.
Hero Blocks like the Hero Image and Hero Carousel will adaptively fill the entire width of the page. Because of this, the photo(s) being used in these Blocks will dynamically be cropped depending on the size of the browser the page is being viewed in. There is no one size fits all for these Blocks; however, you can set the Focal Point of the photo and it is recommended that the core focal point be centrally located in the photo.
Adding a Hero Block
- In your Zenfolio account, use the
Website icon on the left-hand side to open the editor.
- Within the website editor, if you have a multi-page website, choose which page you want to edit.
- On that page, click on the first
icon on the right-hand side.
- Choose a Hero Block that you want to add. If the Hero Blocks are not available to click on, this means you've already added a Hero Block to the page or you did not select the very top Block location.
Editing the Hero Block
After adding the new Block, the options for this will appear on the left-hand side. The names of these options may differ depending on which Hero Block you've chosen, but they do serve the same purposes.
- Choosing what devices this Block will appear on – Desktop, Tablet, and/or Mobile.
- Adjusting photo transitions and padding around the Block.
- Adding photos to appear within the Hero Block. After adding photos, you can then choose the focal point of the photo.
- Changing the Block's background color.
On the right-hand side of the Block, there will be options to change the Layout (if applicable for the chosen Block). You can also use the trash icon to delete the Block. When a Block is deleted, there will be an "Undo Delete" button that will appear for a brief moment, this is the only chance to recover the deleted Block. Once the undo button disappears, the deleted Block is no longer recoverable.
