What Are Blocks?
With your Zenfolio website, you can easily edit the content that appears on your website page(s) by adding or removing Blocks of content. There are various different types of Blocks for your website and you can customize each Block to fit the needs of your website. From Hero Blocks to single Button Blocks, everything about your website's appearance will use blocks to build the overall site.
Below you can see the current available Blocks to use on your website.
Hero Blocks
Hero Blocks will appear at the very top of your website pages and it is only possible to add one Hero block to a page. The Hero Block also provides SEO benefits because it will contain the <h1> tag that helps improve the SEO of a page.
The Hero block can be used as a singular photo welcoming visitors to the page (Hero Image), and single video (Hero Video), or as a slideshow of multiple photos (Hero Carousel).
Text Blocks
Text Blocks will allow you to add text to your page. These Blocks can be used for anything from a message welcoming visitors to your site or providing information about your services.
These Blocks can only contain text, if you'd like to add a photo to the text, you'll need to use a Content Block – to add a link to the text, you can use the Text Block with a Button Block containing the link.
Image & Gallery Blocks
Image & Gallery Blocks allow you to add photos and videos to your page. These Blocks can be used to add a single photo, video, or multiple photos and videos; in a Grid, Masonry, or Carousel style.
These Blocks will only display photos or videos, if you'd like to have this media along with text you will need to use a Content Block, or add a text block above or below the Image & Gallery Block.
Content Blocks
Content Blocks are used to add interactive or combined content Blocks for clients to use. For example, the Content (2 Columns) Block can be used to add a photo and text together on the page. There is also a Contact Form Block to have clients contact you, a Services Block that allows you to display services being offered, Featured Galleries Blocks to display some Galleries you'd like visitors to view, a Testimonial Block to display quotes from previous clients, Client Login to give registered clients an easy way to view their Galleries, a Location* block to provide visitors with your studio location, and a Video block add a video to your site.
*Please note that some blocks may not be available to all plan levels.
The BookMe block is only available if you've added BookMe (US/UK/AU Only) to your account. See this guide here for more information about BookMe.
Social Blocks
Social Blocks can be used to have your socials feed displayed directly on your page, giving your visitors a great way to easily view and follow your Instagram for example.
*Please note that Social Media websites may update their 3rd party permissions at any time. If you've connected your social account to the Zenfolio Social Block but it appears to not have an established connection, you may need to try reconnecting the social block so that you can agree to the Social Media site's new permissions.
Other Blocks
Other Blocks currently includes Button Blocks to add links to your website – internal or external. You can choose to add just a simple button, or you can add a button with a title and text.

Removing Blocks
To remove a content block, select the block you want to remove and click on the trash icon in the top right-hand corner of the block.
If you accidentally remove a block, that you’d like to re-add, you will have a brief opportunity to undo the change using the Undo Delete button that will appear in the Website Editor.
Editing Blocks
After adding a Block to your site, the options for this Block will appear on the left hand side automatically. If you’d like to edit an existing Block, simply just click on that Block and the options will appear on the left.
All Blocks added to your website can be chosen to appear on all or specific types of devices (Desktop, Mobile, or Tablet). This allows you to customize your mobile site separately from your desktop or tablet site. However, other types of Blocks will only feature options specific to the content contained within that Block.
For example, a Block that contains a photo will allow you to choose what photo you’re using, change the focal point of that photo, and also choose the alignment. And a Block with only text will allow you to choose the alignment of the text, but won’t have any option to add a photo. You’ll need to choose a Block that includes a photo and text to do this.
You can also adjust the location, choose the layout, or delete the Block using the options that will appear in the top right area of the Block you have selected.
All changes made will automatically be saved within the Website Editor, allowing you to edit your site without the changes being visible to your clients and other site visitors. Once you have completed all of the changes you would like to make to your website, you can then Publish the changes.
