As you make changes to your website within the Website Editor, those changes will be saved automatically allowing you to leave the Website Editor and return at anytime to continue where you left off. The changes you make will however not be automatically visible to visitors of your website. In order to make your website changes visible to the public, you'll need to PUBLISH those changes in the Website Editor.
Note: If you have not yet published your website, a temporary 404 page will appear when attempting to visit your web address. Once you've published your website for the first time, the website will replace the 404 page.
- To PUBLISH your site, if you are not already in the Website Editor, click on the Website button on the left-hand side of your account.
- Once you've entered the Website Editor, click on the Publish button in the top right-hand corner.
When you click on Publish, a dropdown menu will appear containing the following options:
- Publish Site will allow you to push any unpublished changes to your site onto your live website.
- View Site will allow you to view your currently published version of your website. (To get an idea of what your website will look like before publishing it, you can use the Preview button, next to the Publish button, instead.)
- Copy Direct Link will allow you to copy your website's direct link to your device's clipboard. You can then paste this direct link on social media, in emails, in text messages, etc. – anywhere you want to give out this link.
For those Publishing the website for the very first time, you will only be able use the Publish Site option.
Once the website has been published, you can then use the View Site and Copy Direct Link options as well.
Unpublish Your Website
If you are ever wanting to UNPUBLISH your website, to take it offline, you can do so by following these steps:
- In your Zenfolio account's Website Editor view, click on the Settings icon in the top left area.
- Scroll down in the Settings to the Site Actions section and click on the Unpublish button.
Similarly to the website prior to publishing for the first time, when the website is Unpublished a 404 page will take the place of your website until it is Published again.
