In addition to the built-in uploading tool of your Zenfolio account, you can also use Zenfolio's Lightroom Classic Plugin to upload photos to your Zenfolio account directly from your Lightroom Classic program on your computer. This plugin is a great way to quickly edit and upload photos straight from Lightroom Classic to your Zenfolio account. The Publishing services used by the plugin also allow you to make additional edits to the photos that you've already uploaded from Lightroom and publish those changes straight to the photos that were already uploaded.
Please Note: The Zenfolio Lightroom Classic Plugin will only work for Lightroom Classic. You will need to install Lightroom Classic from your Adobe Creative Suite before being able to start using the plugin.
Installing the Plugin to Lightroom Classic
- Click on the Add-Ons & Tools icon in the bottom left.
- Go to the Tools tab.
- Click on the Download button for the Lightroom Classic Plugin.
- Once the download completes, go into your computer's Download folder, or wherever the file downloaded to, and unzip the file.
- Open Lightroom Classic and click on File, at the top of the screen.
- Choose Plug-in Manager from the dropdown menu.
- In the Plug-in Manager, click on the Add button on the left-hand side.
- Select the unzipped plugin folder from the download location.
- Click Add Plug-in.
Connecting Your Zenfolio Account To the Plugin
After you've installed the plugin to Lightroom Classic, you will then need to login to your Zenfolio account through the plugin.
- In Lightroom Classic, make sure the Published Services area is being seen. Click on the Window button at the top of the screen.
- Choose the Panels option from the dropdown menu.
- In the Panels menu that appears, make sure that the Published Services option is checked.
- With Published Services showing in Lightroom Classic, double click on the Zenfolio plugin tab on the left-hand side.
- In the Lightroom Publishing Manager window, go to the Zenfolio plugin and enter in your Zenfolio account login information. You can use either your Zenfolio email address or username.
- You can also set the exporting options that will be used by this plugin when you Publish photos to your Zenfolio account. These settings are the same settings as if you were exporting the photos to your computer before uploading to Zenfolio. There is a maximum file size allowed of 100mb per file. It is also recommended that you do not check the "Limit file size to" option.
- Once you've successfully logged in and adjusted your exporting settings click on Save.
Importing and Publishing Photos to a New Zenfolio Gallery
After connecting your Zenfolio account to the Lightroom Classic plugin, you can now import photos to Lightroom Classic, edit the photos and publish them directly to your Zenfolio account. The steps below describe creating a new Gallery through the Lightroom Classic plugin. You can also publish to existing Galleries, create a new Folder, and create a Smart Collection.
- In the Publish Services section on the left-hand side, right-click on the Zenfolio tab. If the Gallery already exists in your Zenfolio account, it should appear in the list of Galleries that you can import photos to.
- In the menu that appears, choose to Create Gallery.
- You'll need to name the gallery; choose whether or not you want this to be a target collection, add keywords (optional), and choose a Shoot Type (required).
- Click Create once you've added the needed information.
- Once the Gallery is created, you can then Import your photos into this Gallery.
- Go to the Develop section of Lightroom Classic and make the edits to your photos.
- Once editing is completed, return to the Library tab again, click on the Publish button to send the photos to your Zenfolio account
Publishing the photos from Lightroom Classic will upload those photos to your Zenfolio account. If you created a new Gallery in Lightroom Classic, then this Gallery will also be created in your Zenfolio account. If you chose a Gallery that already exists in your Zenfolio account, the photos will be uploaded to that existing Gallery.
Importing and Publishing Photos to an Existing Zenfolio Gallery
- In the Publish Services section on the left-hand side, click on the < caret next to the Zenfolio plugin to expand the list of items. You should see the existing Galleries and Folders of your Zenfolio account. If you have just installed the plugin and do not see your existing Galleries, you may need to exit and reload Lightroom Classic.
- In the list of items, locate and select the Gallery you want to upload/publish to.
- Once you've selected the Gallery, you can then Import your photos into this Gallery.
- Go to the Develop section of Lightroom Classic and make the edits to your photos, if needed.
- Once editing is completed, return to the Library tab again, click on the Publish button to send the photos to your Zenfolio account.
Publishing the photos from Lightroom Classic will upload those photos to your Zenfolio account. If a photo has already been published to your Zenfolio Gallery from Lightroom Classic and you updated it through Lightroom, it will be updated in your Zenfolio account when you publish.
Using a Smart Collection to Publish Photos to a Zenfolio Gallery
In Lightroom Classic, Smart Collections allow you to quickly add photos from any location in your Lightroom Classic Catalog. All you have to do is indicate what criteria a photo must meet in order to be part of the Smart Collection. For example, rating photos as you edit them can add them to different Smart Collections.
- In the Publish Services section on the left-hand side, right-click on the Zenfolio plugin.
- In the menu that appears, choose the Create Published Smart Collection option.
- Give the new Smart Collection a name, this will be the Title of the Gallery in your Zenfolio account.
- Indicate the criteria that the photos must match in order to be part of the Smart Collection. For example, if you choose the "Rating" option, you can indicate that all 5 star rated photos will be added to the Smart Collection.
- Add any keywords you want to add to the Gallery, if needed.
- Choose the Shoot Type of the Gallery.
- Click on the Create button to complete the creation of of the Smart Collection.
Once you've created the Smart Collection you can then import and edit photos anywhere in your Lightroom Classic catalog. As you are editing, use the criteria you indicated in the Smart Collection with any photos you want to add – rating, flags, labels, etc.
The images that match the criteria of the Smart Collection will automatically appear within that Smart Collection.
- When ready to publish the photos to your Zenfolio account, return to the Library section of Lightroom Classic and select the Smart Collection from the Publishing Services on the left-hand side.
- With that Smart Collection selected, click on the Publish button to send the photos to your Zenfolio account.
