The Favorites feature allows visitors to pick specific photos in a gallery for future use or for reference of other photo proofing needs.
Example uses for this feature include:
- Creating a list of photos that the client would like retouched.
- Creating a list of photos that they would like displayed to their wedding guests.
- Create a list of photos that they dislike and would like not to be displayed in the Gallery.
- Create a list with just one single photo and send a message to the photographer about that one photo.
Before a Favorites list can be created, the visitor will be required to register their email address with the Gallery. The Favorite selection is then stored under their email address on your site. They will then be able to access their favorites from any web browser just by going to the same Gallery and acknowledging their email address again. Changes to Favorites Lists are automatically shared between the client and the photographer in the Activity area of the Gallery So, if the client removes a photo from the list or adds a new photo, the change will be reflected when the photographer views the favorited photos associated with their email address.
Some important things to note: Favoriting photos does not provide any additional access to the photos that are not already available to the client or to the public.
Favorites lists also do not provide the ability to download or save images, at this time. Images can only be downloaded from the original Gallery where they were selected from, if the photographer allows for the images to be downloaded.
How to Enable Favoriting in a Gallery
- In your Zenfolio account, click on the
Galleries icon on the left-hand side of the Dashboard.
- Select the Gallery from the My Library panel on the left. If you do not see this, click on the Gallery icon again to reveal the panel.
- With the Gallery selected, go to the Settings of the Gallery.
- Choose the Social Features tab.
- Switch ON the Favoriting option.
How Will Visitors Select Their Favorite Photos?
Once you enabled the ability for Favoriting, those that have access to the Gallery through sharing or direct link can choose their favorite images using the heart icon on the photos.
In their Gallery, they can begin by clicking on the heart icon in the top right-hand or hovering their mouse pointer over an image and clicking on the heart icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the photo thumbnail.
The visitor will then be prompted to provide their email address for their favorited photos, and click continue
Once they do this, they will then be able to hover their mouse pointer over any image and click on the heart icon to favorite that photo. The photos that they favorite will have a persistent heart in the top left-hand corner of the thumbnail.
If they hover over an image that they've already favorited, they can click on the bottom right-hand heart icon again, that will appear with a - over the heart, to remove it.
The visitor can also click on the heart icon in the top right-hand corner of the Gallery to view their selected favorites in this Gallery.
How to View the Selected Favorites.
- In your Zenfolio account, click on the
Galleries icon on the left-hand side of the Dashboard. Open the Gallery that the visitor has selected their Favorites from.
- With the Gallery open, click on the Activity button.
- Choose the Favorites tab. Here you will see the top favorited photos from this Gallery, as well as a list of visitors that have selected Favorites.
- Click on the individual that you'd like to view the selected Favorites for.
- Once you choose an individual selection to view, you will see all of the photos that this particular client has chosen from this particular Gallery. You can also download this selection by using the Download All or individual photo download icon buttons.
